The  Älvsnabben class where built as colonial tenders to support a divison of amphibus aircraft. most of the served for long time abroad . Especially i caribean and the pacific the made great effort in the struggle aganist axis submarines. Able to ser long enough to carry jet amphibians in the 50s most of their aircraft where replaced by helicopters.
